The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office handled 81 criminal complaints in 2019, compared to 99 in 2018. Of these, 68 were property offenses, and 13 were violent offenses. The reported crimes included: 42 larceny thefts, 22 burglaries, 4 auto thefts, 11 aggravated assaults, and 2 rapes.

From 2003 through 2008, about 3,200 crimes were committed in Hardin County. Of those crimes, only two percent were violent. However, nearly one-half of the crimes committed in Hardin County occur less than one mile from the victim’s residence.
